R.D. Baker Enterprises Inc., dba’s Dayton Water Systems, Dayton Sofwater, and Alpha Water Conditioning Co., is a privately owned company dedicated to providing top of the line water purification equipment and services to residential, commercial, medical, and industrial customers.

Ronald D. Baker incorporated in 1945 under Dayton Sofwater Company, providing sales and service of residential water softeners. The successes of the company lead to the accumulation of several smaller companies joining the organization. Mr. Baker then formed a second company, Water Refining Co., based out of Middletown, Ohio, which manufactured Miracle Water and Servisof residential and commercial water softeners. Dayton Sofwater soon became the largest Miracle Water and Servisof dealer in the U.S. Water Refining Co. was the second largest water softener manufacturer in the late 1950’s and was later sold to EcoWater in the late 80s.

Mr. Baker is credited for the design and patent of the 5-cycle valve still in use today. He was an extraordinary leader in the water treatment industrial and received the Water Quality Association’s Hall of Fame award in 1977.

In the late 70s, an industrial division was formed to focus on the needs of industrial and commercial facilities. This division offered opportunities in water treatment technology that exceeded water softening and filtration.

Dayton Sofwater Company changed its name in 1989 to Dayton Water Systems. As time progressed, the company changed and grew. We manufacture industrial and commercial water treatment equipment and a line of wholesale products for the plumbing industry. We also support an engineering and design group capable of producing systems to meet almost any customer requirement. Sales records are surpassed every year, with current annuals sale of over $5 million.

Dayton Water Systems now employs approximately 35 people and the company is comprised of three service locations. Our corporate office is located at 430 Leo Street in Dayton, Ohio. The other two branches of our company operate under the name Alpha Water Conditioning, located in Fountain City and Muncie, Indiana.

From these two branches, the company provides sales and service of residential, commercial, and industrial water purification equipment throughout the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky area. Deionizer exchange tank service is offered in selected areas in the tri-state area.

The products and services provided by the company are diverse, ranging from home water softening units to customized industrial purification systems. We manufacture, service, and install water softeners from single tank, timer-controlled units to large triplex meter-controlled units. Automatic backwashing carbon, multi-media, greensand, and birm filters are offered to provide solutions to plaguing water problems. These problems include sediment, iron, hydrogen sulfide, and organics. We offer water purification equipment including reverse osmosis, automatic deionizers, and service deionizer exchange tanks furnished to remove dissolved solids from the water supply. In meeting a customer’s requirements, many other components and equipment are utilized in the customization of a water purification system.

Water treatment equipment is commonly installed as stand-alone equipment or as part of a larger water purification system. These systems vary in type and size based upon the application and the customer’s needs. Our company services all aspects of the customer’s water treatment system from the engineering and design to installation and service. We provide many services, including repair and replacement of worn parts, custom rebuilding, preventative maintenance programs custom designed to each unit, and membrane cleaning service.
